In the David P J Ross Magna Carta Vault at Lincoln Castle there is one of the four original copies of Magna Carta from 1215 and one of only two copies of the Charter of the Forest of 1217.
Medieval Law and Disorder workshops set the historical context for these important charters and explore the decisions that King John faced at the time.
You may also wish to focus on the widespread effects of Magna Carta and the Second Battle of Lincoln of 1217.
Our workshop sessions include the following:
Castle Wall Tour – Themed Medieval Castle and 1217 wall tour.
Medieval Charters – Magna Carta and the Charter of the Forest – View the famous historic documents and enjoy the cinematic experience. Explore the implications of these famous documents and their significance at the time and since. Please note that the documents are withdrawn from public view for a short time during the winter months for conservation, so please check with the Learning Team prior to booking to avoid disappointment!
Medieval Role Play – King John and Magna Carta: Our King John interactive drama is designed to give life to the dramatic events of the reign of King John and demonstrate the significance of Magna Carta. The role play also puts King John on trial.
For differences in reading capabilities we have two versions of the King John Drama for Key Stage 2; one suitable for years 3 and 4 and one for years 5 and 6.
