The Early Medieval period saw both Anglo-Saxon and Viking settlers come to Lincolnshire. Each left behind exciting and often mysterious clues to how they lived and what beliefs they held. Our workshops and investigations will help you to ask questions and start to piece together information from the evidence we have.
You can choose to focus on either Anglo-Saxons or the Vikings or you could combine both.
Our workshop sessions include three of the following:
Museum Investigation – Early Medieval Lincoln brought to life
Digging the Early Medieval – Explore the Early Medieval finds in a mini dig.
Life in Viking Lincoln – Investigate Viking materials, trade and shopping and the techniques used to make clothes. Learn how to haggle like a Viking and spend replica coins at the market stall.
Uncovering the Anglo-Saxons – Investigate a furnished grave and make deductions about the people who lived at the beginning of the Early Medieval period.
The sessions include artefact handling and creative art activities, for example jewellery, shield or comb making.
